How often to replace your sunglasses lenses

How often to replace your sunglasses lenses

Sunglasses are essential to protecting your eyes from sunlight, but this isn't as widely known or considered as serious as it should be. In the UK, we may think about sun cream and not sunglasses but they are just as important for your health and well-being.

How often should you replace your lenses?

Based on how often and for how long you wear your sunglasses for, you may need to change your sunglasses lenses every 2 years.

A study conducted in 2016 by Brazilian researchers shows that sunlight degrades the lenses of sunglasses, providing increasingly less effective protection over time. The study goes on to detail that if you wear your sunglasses for an average of 2 hours per day, you should replace the lenses every 2 years. The findings were published in the journal BioMedical Engineering OnLine.
