Drink ice cold water
When you get too hot, your body sweats to cool you back down. This means that on those hot days you need to drink more water than you normally would for your body to keep itself cool. To reduce how much you sweat, add 4-5 regular fridge tray sized ice cubes to every litre of water, and use an insulated water bottle to keep your drink cold for longer.
Top up your electrolytes
Electrolytes are important for maintaining healthy muscles, brains, and hearts, and you can lose them when you sweat in hot weather. To stay topped up, and to do this in the most natural and healthy way, add 150ml of fruit juice to your ice cold water. Orange juice is recommended because it is naturally high in electrolytes, the highest of all fruit juice.
Set your air conditioning to cold
To keep your car cool, put your windows up and turn on your air conditioning. Set to the most comfortable cold setting for you and turn on cabin circulation to keep the inside cool, preventing hot air being pulled in for outside.
Use a reflective dashboard cover
When parked, place a reflective cover on the dashboard to reflect the sunlight away, preventing heat from being trapped inside the car.
Wear sunglasses
Sunglasses are essential on bright days, they help you to protect your eyes, stay cool, and of course, look cool. Get a pair with UV400 protection and with Polarised lenses, like the Jake Ellis® Comptons™, to protect your eyes from the sun's harmful rays and to reduce glare. If you are not wearing sunglasses on a bright day while driving, you will likely have to squint your eyes and concentrate harder, requiring your body to use more energy and as a result, increasing your temperature, causing you to sweat more.
